Hi Dr Amir, do you think that a Forward Head posture is caused by incorrect jaw position in all cases? I assume that it's a Forward head posture which leads to a loss of cervical lordosis.
I found this webpage, http://fixtheneck.com/posture.html explaining different posture types, although none of them are taking the jaw and dental arches, or tongue position into consideration. There are 4 posture types mentioned, one is normal, the other 3 all have a forward head posture, but the low back and pelvis alignment is different in all 3. I am wondering if there are some situations where the incorrect pelvis alignment is causing Forward head posture, and some where it's caused by the jaw position, and if there is any way of being able to tell which. Do you have any ideas? Comment (1)

Thank you for an interesting question. There is a great deal of confusion out there and I totally avoid reading articles like the one you provided a link to. The answers to the questions are relatively straight forward and are a reflection of true findings in our surgery. To answer your questions sequentially please note: The head does not in itself posture forward. It is a smaller jaw or poorly developed lower face which postures the head forward thus achieving balance on the neck. Loss of cervical lordosis has many causes one of which is a consequence of repeated high velocity chiropractic or osteopathic adjustments which disrupt the bodies natural rotatory compensations of the neck to cater for a smaller and an asymmetric jaw and a retrognathic face. The pelvic misalignment is a direct consequence of JAW and/or ATLAS asymmetry in over 90% of the cases. Therefore the head posture is affected before the pelvis can 'have a say in it'. As I mentioned in the article above posture is a reflection of jaw and skeletal asymmetries. One cannot artificially get a good posture. Correction of the jaw and body asymmetries corrects the posture including the head. Comment (1)
